About Tom

Tom is a professional career and communications coach. As the former Assistant Dean of the Executive MBA Program at the Cox School of Business at SMU, he and his team recruited, interviewed, and coached more than 2000 Executive MBA candidates from 2001-2021. Beginning in 1992, he was an instructor in Cox Business Leadership Center, where he conducted  courses in professional presentation techniques and career strategies to working professional  MBA candidates. Clients include working professionals, entrepreneurs,  undergraduate/graduate students, and parents. His areas of coaching expertise include managing career campaigns, preparing and delivering professional presentations and interviewing from both sides of the desk/camera. 

Prior to SMU, Tom spent 15 years at Pearle Vision, Inc., where he began his career as a sales trainer. His last position was as a Divisional Vice President. From 1992-1995, he owned and operated a Pearle Vision franchise in Plano, Texas. He has a BA in Political Science from Penn State University and a MA in Organizational Management from Dallas Baptist. He completed the Executive Coaching Certificate Program at SMU in 2017. 

Tom is also a substitute teacher at numerous Catholic Schools in the Dallas Diocese, where he also coaches eighth grade students to prepare for high school interviews. He volunteers at SMU Catholic, Edgemere Retirement Community, North Texas Food Bank and Prison Ministry for TDCJ.
